Award-winning fire station architecture meets urban function
With its ochre-yellow clinker façade and U-shaped layout, the new Nordhausen Fire Station is a benchmark in modern fire service infrastructure. Designed by dasch zürn + partner (Stuttgart/Munich), the building houses 22 vehicle bays, training and office spaces – all optimised for rapid deployment. Positioned southeast of the old town, the building blends architectural precision with civic presence. Recognised in architectural competitions, it exemplifies clear form and urban respect.
Lighting concept aligned with operational logic
The lighting solution, developed with LTS, is fully integrated into the building’s structure. Light lines from the LTS Lichtkanal system guide users, create spatial clarity and ensure glare-free, uniform illumination in functional zones. The lighting supports intuitive orientation – from alarm to deployment – and enhances both safety and atmosphere in rest and training areas.
Modular lighting systems built for performance
Installed throughout the building:
- Lichtkanal 060 with nanoOptix for precision glare control in corridors and rest areas
- Lichtkanal 070 (IP65) for entrances and technical spaces
- Lichtkanal 045 for compact ambient lighting in secondary areas
- All systems are DALI-compatible, retrofit-ready and engineered for durability. Thanks to their modular design, future upgrades and maintenance can be performed without invasive work – ideal for critical infrastructure.
