Design and Light for a New Hotel Experience
The new generation of InterCity Hotels embodies timeless design combined with a welcoming atmosphere. Renowned architect Matteo Thun relies on natural materials and a distinct design language to create spaces that exude warmth and a sense of belonging. Light plays a crucial role in his concept: In collaboration with KOBER LICHTPLANER GmbH and LTS Licht & Leuchten GmbH, a bespoke lighting solution was developed that seamlessly integrates with the overall design.
Indirect Lighting as the Key to a Feel-Good Ambience
One of the main challenges was to create an indirect ambient lighting concept without suspended ceilings. The solution: a bespoke cove lighting system from LTS, emitting soft, uniform light while subtly accentuating the vertical surfaces of the curtain.
"Our lighting designers and engineers use light as a building material for the fourth dimension of architecture. The right lighting makes all the difference – especially in hotels, where guests should feel at ease,"
explains Nicole Kober, Managing Partner at KOBER LICHTPLANER GmbH.
A key priority was to ensure that the light source remained concealed from guests’ view and eliminated any glare.
LTS IndiLine – Discreetly Integrated, Perfectly Orchestrated
The specially developed LTS cove lighting is subtly positioned behind the curtain pelmet, seamlessly blending into the room concept. Its asymmetrical light distribution ensures soft, uniform illumination of the curtain surface, creating a pleasant sense of depth in the room.
