Architecture for Openness and Encounters
With the vr more concept, VR Bank Westküste sets a strong example of modern banking at its main branch in Heide. Architect Astrid Weißenfeld (ebene03.büro für räume) designed an open, organic spatial concept that replaces traditional corridors and closed offices. Instead, flowing transitions and communication zones such as lounge areas or a centrally placed welcome bar guide visitors through the space.
Space for Dialogue, Shaped by Light
The new branch structure fosters hybrid consulting, personal encounters and digital services – supported by a holistic design concept that blends architecture, colours and interior lighting into a brand-defining experience.
Lighting Design that Unites Form, Function and Brand
The open architecture posed high demands on the lighting design. The core idea was to integrate light into the spatial dramaturgy – subtle yet effective. The customised Lichtkanal Curved by LTS follows the exact contours of the curved glass wall in the corridor area, guiding visitors through the space without visually dominating it. Thanks to specially developed curved collimators, light distribution remains uniform and glare-free, even in tight radii.
For the back office, LTS and the interior architect developed a bespoke solution: a semi-recessed Lichtkanal 060 with nanoOptix technology. Despite the low ceiling height, it enables ergonomic, standard-compliant illumination (UGR ≤19).
This is how interior lighting creates orientation, supports dialogue and strengthens the architectural concept.

Tailor-Made LED Lighting Solutions for Modern Bank Design
In the project, two specially configured LTS Lichtkanal systems were used:
- Lichtkanal DI with curved elements for accentuated corridor lighting
- Lichtkanal 060 with nanoOptix for glare-free working in the back office
Both systems were precisely tailored to the structural requirements and blend seamlessly into the interior architecture. They show how energy-efficient lighting solutions not only convince in terms of functionality, but also become an integral part of brand identity.
The vr more project stands as an exemplary case for future-oriented office lighting, in which lighting design, architectural illumination and spatial effect are in perfect harmony.
